What you should know if this is your first time at St Mary’s

We rejoice in God’s all embracing love and everyone is warmly welcome at our services and activities.

Have a look at our Sunday Services. You’ll hear our bells ringing before the start of the services.

There is a large pay-on-foot multi-storey car park next to St Mary’s (follow directions to ‘Church’ Car Park), costing about £2. There is a limited amount of car parking space on the church forecourt that we like to keep available for our minibus or blue badge holders. There is some on-street parking at weekends or evenings, but please be aware there are restrictions enforced.

At our Sunday Services you will be welcomed by one of our stewards, who will gladly show you into the church and make sure that you have everything you need for the service.

The church is accessible to wheelchair users through the main doors or via the Church Centre (which is just to the right of the main doors – see the photo above).

The church is equipped with a hearing aid loop and all our leaders use microphones. We use projection equipment for displaying the words to songs and the bible readings. In the Church Centre there are toilet and kitchen facilities.

After the services we serve refreshments (tea, coffee, squash, and biscuits) in the Church Centre. Everyone is welcome to stay, to meet and chat with members of the congregation.

Children are welcome at St Mary’s. On Sunday morning at 10.30am we provide an exciting and varied programme of activities and learning about the bible, suitable for children aged 0-14 of all abilities and personalities.

  • Crèche is available up to age 3
  • Scramblers is our group for children aged 3-4
  • Climbers is our group for children aged 5-7
  • Explorers is our group for children aged 7-11
  • Pathfinders is our group for older children aged 11-14

On the third Sunday of each month we hold a Worship-For-All service at 10.30am, where we all join in together.  On all other Sundays, children are encouraged to attend their separate sessions which take place in the Church Centre at the same time as our 10.30am service in the church. All our Sunday School team leaders have DBS checks, and on your child’s first time you will be asked to fill in a registration form. If you prefer your child to stay in church with you, there is an area called the ‘Ark’ at the front right hand side of the church, set aside for children up to the age of seven and equipped with quiet toys and books. For babies and very young children there is also a crèche available throughout the service if you wish to use it.

As well as the 10.30am morning service every Sunday, there is an 8.00am Holy Communion service on some Sundays and a 6.30pm evening service every Sunday. Please see the diary for details this week.
